Is it okay for my condenser to be exposed to rainfall?

Condensing units are designed to withstand heavy rainfall with no damage. As long as the unit is correctly assembled with no design flaws, all electrical components should be completely shielded from the rain inside the unit; with no other constructed protection or shielding required. Shielding your condensing unit from the rain is not recommended, rain water cleans the coils of your unit which actually improves effeciency. Also it is not recommended to drain a gutter unto your unit, a constant and substantial flow of water can damage your unit or reduce effeciency.
