What is a float switch or condensate safety switch?

Float switches are used as a safety incase your primary drain stops up stopping it from wetting your ceiling or floor. They are installed in both horizontal and vertical air handler applications. In horizontal applications they are located on the secondary/emergency pan. On vertical applications they are installed on the air handler itself on the overflow drain or in the primary drain itself. When your drain stops up this will trigger a float on the float switch shutting off your condensing unit or the whole system itself.
