What is the emergency heat setting on my thermostat?

The emergency heat setting is used when you have a heat pump and something is wrong with your condensing unit. This setting turns power off to your condensing unit, only allowing your back up heat strips to provide heat. If your condensing unit is malfunctioning, you can use this setting to turn your condensing unit off while still give you some heat.
